Winter Break in North Devon, Exmoor

Christmas and Wintertime is a time for people to come together and enjoy each other’s company; but if you feel that the only company you need is that of your companion’s, why not get away with a Winter break for two? Devon is one of the best locations that you could possibly spend your winter holidays in due to the amount of snow that Devon receives and the amount of attractions and activities available for you to take part in during the festive period.

Watersmeet in Winter

Watersmeet in Winter

A Walk on the Moor

The Exmoor National Park is stunningly beautiful at any time of year and Winter is no exception.  The stark beauty, silver grey of the trees and deep red of the moors is the perfect backdrop for a romantic long walk.

Watersmeet

The ice cold waters of Watersmeet cascade louder than ever at this time of year as they make their journey towards Lynmouth.  A valley stream-side walk that is usually canopied by leafy trees is now open to the skies.  Truly beautiful.

Valley of Rocks

The sparse backdrop of vast deep red hills complemented by the cool grey granite makes for the most spectacular walks.  You may feel like you’re the only people there!

Pubs and Roaring Log Fires

After a bracing walk across the wilderness of Exmoor or alongside the raging waters of Watersmeet – what could be better than a festive drink next to a roaring log fire in a local pub?  The pubs of Exmoor offer the quintessential winter experience with fine ales, hearty home-cooked meals and the smell of an open fire.
