LYNTON & BARNSTAPLE RAILWAY
For steam train enthusiasts the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway operates from Woody Bay Station located three miles from Lynton.
Woody Bay Station is an original train station that opened in 1898. It closed along with the rest of the railway in September 1935. It was privately purchased in 1995. What you can see today at the station is just the beginning of an exciting project to rebuild one of the world’s most famous and picturesque narrow gauge railways.
The Woody Bay Station is the place to board the narrow gauge train for a journey back in time. The journey is a two mile round trip through some of the loveliest countryside in North Devon.
