West Somerset Railway

West Somerset Railway

The West Somerset Railway runs steam locomotives for twenty miles to Bishops Lydeard on the outskirts of Taunton.

The railway, is a true country branch line of the old Great Western Railway.  People that visit the railway enjoy a nostalgic ride back in time.  Some are studying the railway and its rich history. Whatever the reason for visiting, it is full of fascination. The historic steam locomotives, coaches and wagons, and the buildings of our ten unique stations linked by a twenty mile scenic journey will repay hours of exploration. The surrounding countryside is as varied as it is beautiful.

If you haven’t already, then check out the gorgeous bedrooms at Highcliffe.  Each one has a stunning sea view of the Bristol Channel and the Exmoor coast. Perfect for a long or short break.
