We thought that winning Gold for the best Bed & Breakfast in Devon was the highlight of our time at Highcliffe House.
It still is, however winning Gold at the South West Tourism Awards for the best Bed & Breakfast in the South West for 2018 – 2019 was absolutely amazing.
We knew in December 2018 that there was a chance of winning either Gold, Silver or Bronze for the South West Award. Just being recognised at this level was wonderful. I mentioned in my previous blog that this was not an ‘easy win’. The competition at South West level was outstanding, with some incredible businesses vying for the gold title.
The awards event was outstanding. It was held at Bristol Aerospace in Filton, under the last Concorde ever to fly over our skies. 2019 marks 50 years since Concorde’s maiden flight – from Toulouse on 2nd March 1969, with the first British flight taking place from Filton on 9th April 1969.
It was a privilege to dine beneath its supersonic fuselage and wings, and we had the great pleasure of meeting former Concorde pilot; Captain Les Brodie.
The whole experience was quite inspiring and extremely energising – onwards and upwards!
