This page is updated to reflect regularly as we conduct our risk assessment to help minimise the potential for transmission of coronavirus. If you would like to know more about any of the information below or have any concerns about an upcoming or future stay – please don't hesitate to contact us.
We encourage all guests staying at Highcliffe House to bring an adequate supply of 70%-alcohol hand sanitiser, wipes and any protective face coverings they wish to use.
When parking, we would kindly ask guests to leave plenty of space between other cars. As we are only expecting a few cars at any one time, there will be plenty of room.
If assistance with luggage is required, these items should remain in or near the car and we will take it from there.
Each time a guest enters the house we will request that they use the hand-sanitiser located near the front door. Another sanitiser is located in the lobby.
If check-in coincides with another guest checking in, we will ask guests to wait in one of our reception rooms.
Our favoured greeting is to shake hands as a welcome, but we will discourage this until such time contact is once again permitted. Should guests wish to make contact, we would be delighted to bump elbows or tip toes.
We have always had a strict cleaning policy at Highcliffe House, this has been stepped up to ensure we have cleaned all contact-surfaces prior to guest arrival.
The room will be sprayed with an anti-viral disinfectant several hours before arrival.
The regular Welcome Guest Folder we place in the bedrooms has been replaced with a website version - accessible from any personal device; a phone, tablet or laptop. The link will be sent to guests prior to arrival, and also available on a personalised letter on arrival.
Traditionally, we provide a tray of non-disposable amenities; pencils, note pad, first aid kit, sewing kit etc. These items will not be in the room on arrival but are available on request.
Our complimentary bathroom amenities are already single-use. These will be fully replaced after each guest checks out.
Hospitality box containing teas, coffee, sugars, biscuits etc. will be fully replaced after each guest checks out.
Housekeeping of a room is never started whilst guests are in residence.
Our hands will be washed and sanitised before entering and upon leaving each room during housekeeping.
The room will be sprayed with an anti-viral disinfectant during the housekeeping process.
To reduce the potential for cross-contamination guest’s personal belongings will not be touched or moved during housekeeping. To help us, we ask that all personal items are tidied and put away.
During clement weather, the bedroom windows may be opened to allow air circulation
Decorative cushions and bedspreads will not be available in the room during your stay. Blankets can be found in the wardrobe if used these will be laundered and replaced when each guest checks out.
Irons and Ironing Boards, available on request, will be disinfected after each use.
Dining tables will be spaced 2-metres apart, or inline with the current Government guidelines
On arrival for breakfast, we will ask guests to be vigilant at the buffet table, and queue at an appropriate marked distance. If another guest is there, we suggest waiting until they are re-seated at their table.
Buffet will be available for sealed items - juice, yoghurt, home-made cereals, nuts etc. Social distancing will apply.
Fresh fruits that would normally be self-service will be available for pre-order, in the same manner as the hot food
Home-made marmalades jams will be pre-potted, along with other spreads.
We will ask guests to keep the same dining table during their stay, each table will be discreetly labelled.
We will keep as many windows open as is comfortable and weather permitting.
Guest Lounge & Lobby
A selection of untouched leaflets and guides will be provided in guest rooms upon arrival.
Magazines, Books, Games and Fresh Fruit will not be available at this time.
Untouched Walking Maps are available on request for £2.50
Milk & Water will be available in the refrigerator in the Guest Lounge and we ask guests to sanitise their hands before opening the fridge door. Empty bottles should be kept in the guest’s bedroom and they will be removed during housekeeping.
The Landline Phone will be unavailable for use during this time. Guests should use their own phones to make any calls. If anyone is unable to obtain a signal, we can bring a sanitised landline telephone to use.
Afternoon Snacks & Evening Meals
We are offering a small selection of afternoon snacks and evening meals to help any guests not wishing to venture out of the house.
We will ask guests to order these items before 10 am. Guests will be asked to dine at the same table where they enjoyed breakfast.
The Den, where the bar is located, will not be in use at this time.
We will be providing table/seated service in the Guest Lounge or Dining Room for any bar drinks.
Ice will be available on request rather than self-service
The final bill will be emailed to guests at 7 am, 3-hours before check-out, with a 'Balance Payment' link.
If the final balance isn't paid using the Balance Payment link, the payment card used to secure the booking will be automatically charged before 9.30 am on the day of check out.
- Any queries should be raised before 8 am on the day of check out.
- If assistance with luggage is needed, these should be left immediately outside of the bedroom door and we will take it from there
