A long leisurely walk with very dramatic scenery.
Approx: 1-3 hrs |
If you wish, you can walk from Lynmouth, up along the South West Coast Path towards Countisbury Hill and then continue on the Foreland to Porlock section of the coast path. This walk really is beautiful, but the walk back from the lighthouse can be a touch gruelling – but it’s worth it!
By car, take the A39 towards Minehead, passing through Lynmouth over the Lyndale Bridge. Pass the Blue Ball Inn by about ½ mile to the Car Park on your left – this is Barna Barrow, a National Trust site.
Follow the signs to the Lighthouse, which will lead you downwards towards along the South West Coast Path towards Porlock. However, you will take a left turn towards the Foreland Bothy, along Coddow Combe.
The glorious thing to note about this walk … there is no easy way back up, walk back the way you arrived … but it is absolutely worth it.
