Breakfast at Highcliffe. When we decided to set up the blog, we really didn’t know how to get going; so we asked some of our guests what they would like to read about, and the response from everyone we asked was to chat on the blog as if we were with a guest. Simple really. So here goes….
One of my favourite parts of living at Highcliffe is cooking our delicious breakfasts. I just love it. Getting up and watching the sunrise whilst putting together all the dishes, is the best start to the day. I’ve always had a passion for cooking, and have spent years collating ideas and recipes which I try out at home.
The breakfast menu we have put together for our guests has something for everyone.
Highcliffe offers a full english roasted in the oven (I only fry things where necessary), with each component chosen by the guests so they have what they want (and how much they want!!).
If you want a more lighter breakfast we offer eggs royale, florentine and benedict! Very popular and extremely tasty.
A popular dish has always been smoked haddock, which I serve with a roasted tomato and a poached egg. A light and healthy start to the day.
Where possible I buy ingredients locally, as we prefer to support local farmers and suppliers and find they are much tastier and great quality.
The eggs! What can I say! They are just perfect. We have partnered up with a local egg farm who supply us with fresh free range quality eggs, with the brightest yolks which cook beautifully.
In addition to the hot dishes, we offer fresh fruit salad, fruit compotes, cereals and yoghurts.
I always say to guests at check-in “pace yourself” as its so easy to have too much in the morning here!
